Deep dark brown coloured body with a very thin, not even single centimetre tall off-white head that fades quickly above the eighty per cent opaque deep dark brown body. Aroma of bourbon, oak, molasses, oatmeal, light nuts, a dash of pecans, some roasted grain and a sliver of coffee, too. Medium-bodied; Relatively straight-forward roasty malt flavours dominate with a lot of sugars showing caramel, toffee and some raisins as well, with a slight vanilla, cream and nutty kick towards the end, but pretty smooth for 10 per cent. Aftertaste shows some of the grainy qualities with a slight warmth from the alcohol and a light bourbon kick, but relatively mild for the style with only a light dose of sugars on the end with the the toffee shining through. Overall, a mellow but full-flavoured stout with some subtle sweetness from vanilla and raisins at the finish with not too much bourbon and not a pungent or assertive alcohol bite here at all. I sampled this ten ounce pour on draught at the brewery here in Cape Charles, Virginia on 24-February-2023 for US$7,50 with my dad while visiting the Eastern Shore.
