Very hazy deep copper, bronze and even light brown in colour with a very large, four to five centimetre tall light tan head that's microfoamed and stays afloat nicely above the 95 per cent opaque body. Aroma of gingerbread of course, with a lot of lactose, cream, earth, icing sugar, cookie and especially yeastie and bready notes in the nose. Full-bodied; Super rich and cloyingly sweet icing sugar and cookie notes show at first with a thick malt bite with a lot of spice notes as well with some dry nuts and rustic qualities and a very small dose of alpha acids and hop bitterness that comes through, but this really is all about the sugars and spices. Aftertaste is rich, cloying, sweet, spicey and pretty clearly - NOT an IPA! This is very ginger, earthy and rustic focused with a ton of sweetness and alcohol and much closer to a barley wine or American Strong or even an 'Imperial' 'White Stout', but not an IPA. Overall, nice enough to try and very gingery, but too sweet, rich and pungent without any bitterness at all here - they need to just remove 'IPA' from the can and it would make me feel better. This one of course is still nice to try in the Winter season, given the weather. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from GlenRo Spirit Shoppe in Monroe, Connecticut on 19-December-2021 for US$3,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 10-February-2022.
