Cask at Slaters, Stafford Pours a dark reddish brown with a small tan head and good lacing. A pleasant nose of coffee and vanilla. In the mouth there is a contrast between bitter coffee grounds and the overall creamy texture, with bread crusts and roast malts also featuring. Finish is definitely bitter though. Quite nice, but doesn’t really have much “stout” character.

Cask @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Very dark with a frothy head. Its coffee is very understated, as is its stout character, but it’s pleasant enough with a pleasant drinking texture.

Cask at the Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark reddish brown with a frothy long-lasting off white head. The aroma is roasty malt, coffee, light chocolate. The flavour is moderate sweet with a smooth roasty, dry coffee, liquorice hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Hand-pulled pint in my local Wetherspoons on 30 Nov 2012. Deep Ruby body with a foaming tan coloured head. All coffee with a slight bitterness throughout. Hints of dark chocolate within the flavours but this majors on the coffee part of its name more than the stouty bit. I enjoyed it (I like coffee) and would have had another: but I was on a mission, so had to move on.
