A light sour German wheat beer brewed with an addition of half a ton of local Swan Valley watermelons.

Tap at the Royston Hotel, Melbourne. Poured a hazy straw colour with no head and a few bubbles. The aroma is crisp watermelon, cucumber. The flavour is acid citrus sour with a crisp, slightly tart, watery fresh fruit, light grainy palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation. Light but refreshing. Easy drinking and great on a hot day.

Squealer in Denver with Aussie pals. Hazy yellow appearance with a pearl white head. This is straight up sour watermelon. It’s not overly complex but damn, it is refreshing and tasty. Moderately tart. Wish it was a little higher boost.

On tap at Local Taphouse. Distant citric nose. Hazy amber beer with no head. Classic Berliner Weisse with sour watermelon, almost creamy in the mouth. Nice but not outstanding.

Pours pale straw with a quickly fading head.Sweet watermelon evident in the aroma, kinda like watermelon lollies. Some wheat and a tart character follows. The watermelon note is pretty tempting!More watermelon as a flavour along with the promised tartness. Remains very approachable, nowhere near mouth-puckering.Could use more carbonation.Very refreshing stuff.

Tap at GABS. Cloudy yellow with a small white head. Tart aroma of lemon, vinegar, watermelon. Light bodied and slightly lactic slick. Taste has a brief punch of watermelon (which I’m not that keen on), then lemon and sourish apple. Refreshing.
