The Pirate Life x Ballast Point Trans Pacific Partnership. A 6.0% American Strong Pale Ale liberally hopped with US, NZ and Australian hops and finished with Finger Limes and Coriander in the Whirlpool. To ensure that the tap decal stood out among our range we enlisted the help of our mate Steen Jones who came through with the goods: An epic scene of a tall ship sailing across the Pacific. We believe the beer, the artwork and the story behind it all reflect the unique style of Pirate Life and Ballast Point while celebrating the collaborative nature that helped the craft beer industry grow to become what it is today...

Keg at Tres Bien, Leicester. Golden orange with a touch of loose white head. Sticky sugar aroma with some candied orange peel. A touch of red grapefruit. Sweet and almost herbal taste is balanced by a sticky bitterness. Persimmon notes in the aftertaste. Weird. And good... but not good enough to make up for the weird.

(Can) Pours hazy amber with good white head. Nice aroma - mainly pine with some biscuit and spice notes. Medium body with carbonation that gives both a soft mouthfeel and brightness. This is a hop driven beer from tangy start to bitter finish. There's some nice biscuity malt underneath the hops. Nice APA.

Can ($A28 for 6). Gold with a white head. Aroma of citrus, honeyed hay, some herbal and fresh cut pine notes. After a while more fruity things emerge - melon, passionfruit, lychees. The additions are not obvious. Clean, quite sweet. Citrus moves from mandarin to grapefruit. I guess it's mainly Simcoe with the lesser notes probably from Mosaic. It's a very nice blend. Bitterness is pretty firm. Very good.

Tap at the.Boilermaker House, Melbourne. Poured a clear medium amber with a frothy white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is grassy, weedy, citrus tropical fruit. The flavour is moderate sweet, light bitter with a crisp fresh, fruity, light dry woody hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Fourteen Dollars a pot? Nice but not "that" nice. Not sure where all the profits are going here, but not the best feeling for me as there is no way it's worth what they are charging and that's reflected in my rating.
