The Pirate Life x Ballast Point Trans Pacific Partnership. A 6.0% American Strong Pale Ale liberally hopped with US, NZ and Australian hops and finished with Finger Limes and Coriander in the Whirlpool. To ensure that the tap decal stood out among our range we enlisted the help of our mate Steen Jones who came through with the goods: An epic scene of a tall ship sailing across the Pacific. We believe the beer, the artwork and the story behind it all reflect the unique style of Pirate Life and Ballast Point while celebrating the collaborative nature that helped the craft beer industry grow to become what it is today...

Can from the hop and barley. Lincoln. Hazy golden colour with a white head. Aroma is piney and light citrus. Taste light sweet with bitter hints. Medium body.

Can. Amber coloured beer with a strong head. The aroma is well hopped, and the flavour is very strong hopped with plenty of bitterness. Overall a very nice well hopped pale ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can at home in Hackney - sourced from Beer Hawk. Pours clear orange-gold with a modest, creamy topping. The nose holds orange rind, pine, needles, dry pale mats. Light-medium sweet flavour with more dry piney bitterness, some orange peel, hay, a light grainy note. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Finishes with more piney bitterness, citrus peel, grainy pale malts. Kind of basic, but decent.

Can @ Chez Sophie. Pours a hazy light amber, off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt, resin, exotics. Taste is similarly flavoursome, perhaps a little sticky and resinous, orange and caramel, with a good bitter hop element. A little unbalanced perhaps, not massively into the fruity sweet character, but it's alright.

Can from Alesbymail. Hazy orange with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty and moderate hoppy - fruity. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. 130218

From a 355ml can on 13/1/2018. Pours a slightly cloudy golden with a big white head. Has a strong nose with fruity, floral and herbal hops featuring. The flavour features lots of sweet stone and citrus fruit and a touch of honey, against a solid biscuit malt background. The hops are prominent, and slightly puckering with the lime coming through at the back, along with a hint of grapefruit. medium bodied with average carbonation. Damn this is well put together - super tasty, approachable, and full of character, Just lovely, and about as good as you can expect an APA to be.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours lightly hazy golden - amber with a medium white head. The aroma is fresh, sweet stone fruits, apricot, persimmon, melon, brioche and honey. The taste is dry, decent amount of bitterness, apricot, persimmon, melon, greengage, pithy, zesty, pithy, honey, bread and straw with a drying finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Nice persimmon vibes. Decent.

355ml can into schooner glass. Slightly hazy amber beer with large frothy white head. Medium carbonation. A little patchy lacing. Nose has ripe fruit, touch of pepper, undertones of dark caramel, it's nice. Full-bodied, a little zingy with an oily texture. Strongly bitter and alcoholic. There's a lingering herbal earthiness in the finish. It's OK but feels a little unbalanced.
