This ale is brewed by the Meantime Brewery using 7 different malts and British hops from Kent to produce a very well balanced, traditional porter, a style of ale which dates back to 1750. It's been given a fantastic, Belgian-inspired twist with the flavours of rich salted caramel.

Can shared with JMD at HNB 22.09.18. Pale brown with a hue of red. Persistent beige head and lacing. Fine aroma and taste of dark caramel, brittle, chocolate and dark berries, balanced by mellow bitterness.

Can. Dark pour. Aroma of sweet caramel, iron, chocolate and malt. Taste has sweet caramel, iron, malt, chocolate and some raisin. Not very salty and not very porter-ish as well. Meh.

On tap @ Beerfestival Groningen 2018 as Meantime Salted Caramel Porter. Black with a tan head. Aroma of indeed salted caramel with some chocolate. Taste is sweet. Tastes really like salted caramel, problem is I don't like salted caramel that much.

Not very impressive, but good enough. Soft, malty, sweet, some caramel, hint of bitterness. Salt got lost on route. Bit thin, though.

Dark brown colour with quick fading head. Aroma and flavour do have bittersweet caramel. Bit of a salty finish on the lips. Lacks body. Seems artificially sweetened.

Bottle from M&S. Poured a clear dark brown with a short-lived fizzy light tan head. The aroma is caramel malt, smoky, charcoal hop. The flavour is moderate sweet with a light liquorice, light toffee caramel palate and a bubbly mouthfeel. Medium to light bodied with lively carbonation. Way over carbonated for a porter.

Bottle from Marks & Spencer, Halifax. Amber-brown, but closer to the former with a small to thin head. Has a smoothness, a sweetness, is salted, is light in terms of what you might expect from something called a ’porter’, but as it’s very tasty I guess this matters little. Has a sticky-sweet texture with caramel dominating both taste and its aroma.
