I am still not sure why this is called Black Pearl but it is made with a kind of Japanese grapefruit. On tap at the GJBF Osaka. Dark cloudy brown pour with a light beige head. Not so many dark malts coming through in the aroma, mostly grapfruite citrus notes. The flavor is really ascerbic, tart. If you like grapefruit you’ll like it. Kind of like grapefruit juice over a slight chocolate dark malt base. Not for me but done well enough.
