16oz (thx, Ryan!) shared in Porto Cove on Canada Day with Andriy and Kyrylo.
Aroma: weird mix of gin and roasted.
Taste: along the same lines, some sweetness, very botanical.
Overall: weird one, but it's ok.

473 ml can. Pours a dark brown with full head.Initial aromas include a ton of rosemary, sweat and juniper followed by meaty gin and toasted malts. Flavors are a little bit more balanced and follow same, but with a good dose of plastic, soap and oak. Seems a bit weird and off balance to me. Maybe a bad can? Certainly not in line with the tap reviews…

Dark brown. Thick head. Expressive aroma of pine, rosemary, sage, chocolate. Basically the gin barrel takes the black IPA concept into overdrive. It’s kind of the same on the palate - herbaceous and piney, bitter, grapefruit. All these really good things all at once. A touch yeasty, with a chocolate and toasted malt sweetness.

Poured from the tap @ 3Fold. Dark brown with small beige head. Roast malt, oak and gin infusion with feint background hops. Comes together really nicely.

On tap at Threefold, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is pretty fragrant, when plenty of gin, oak, roasted malt, and earthy hops all coherently mixing. Flavour is impressively coherent and clean, with roasted malt, earthy hops, oak, and gin all balanced and cleanly expressed. Odd idea but the execution is hard to argue with. Excellent.

On tap at Threefold. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Lots of roasted malt, pine, and gin botanicals on the nose. Flavour works really well, the gin botanicals and pine complement each other well, nice roast to balance, smooth oak. Fantastic execution.
