(Draught at Muted Horn, Berlin, 29 July 2022) Dark red colour with frothy, pink head. Fruity, sourish nose with notes of blueberries, lemon, oak wood and vanilla. Fruity, tart taste with blueberries, oak wood, lemon, a touch of vinegar and a dry and tart finish. Hardly any bitterness. More than medium body, dry. Rich acidity and a good berry presence. Complex, still in good balance. Very nice.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, 2015 vintage bottling. Pours lightly hazy golden amber/light orange color with a small fairly dense off white head with poor retention, that reduces to a nothing pretty quickly. No lacing on the glass, some clinging bubbles and streaming carbonation. Good appearance. Aromas of big sour/tart/tangy blueberries, raspberry, cranberry, strawberry, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, plum, pear, green apple, red/white wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, and white bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty/lacto funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, blueberries, oak, and moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big sour/tart/tangy blueberries, raspberry, cranberry, strawberry, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, plum, pear, green apple, red/white wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, and white bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty/lacto funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang; and light yeast/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of sour/tart/tangy berries, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, peach, plum, pear, green apple, red/white wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, bread, pepper, light funk/vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, blueberries, oak, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with great malt/tart/sourness and tangy fruit balance. Mild increasing puckering through the glass, but not overwhelming. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/acidic/tangy, and fairly crisp/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 6.4%. Overall this is an outstanding fruited sour/wild ale. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, blueberries, oak, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink; despite the increasingly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish, not overly lactic. Awesome balance of juicy berries and well rounded Brett/Bacteria complexity; nice oak presence and pale/wheat malts against acidity. Not as jammy as I expected, but still plenty of fruit presence. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example as usual.
