Cask at Alexandra, Derby. Pours almost black with minimal tan head and good lacing. There’s roasted malts, toffee and parkin in the aroma. In the mouth it is sweet and creamy with flavours of roasted malts, liquorice and hints of vanilla. After a while a general cola taste emerges, leading to a slightly bitter and dry finish. This is decent.

Cask at Microbus, Gateshead. Gluten Free. Black brown colour, beige foam head and aroma of roast malt, ashy, chocolate & coffee. Taste is rich malty roasted, ash, dried fruit, chocolate, coffee and earthy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, roasty bitter finish. Nicely drinkable

Handpull cask at the Blue Boar, Leicester. Dark brown and mostly opaque with a ring of tan head and good lacing. Light malty chocolate, salted caramel and a hint of yeast extract. Sweet taste, with a touch of sour/savoury, maybe some soy. Light chocolate and some black grape on the finish. Smooth texture, soft carbonation. Class.
