BA Flanders Red with Apricots and Plums

This Flanders Red style beer was blended from 80% provision strength ‘young’ stock beer aged 4 months, along with 20% of our most ancient ‘mature’ stock beer which has been aged in whisky casks for nearly three years. The combination of very old and young beers has produced a complex sweet and sour flavour profile with a subtle oak character.

This blend was conditioned on whole British grown apricots and plums (approx. 200g/l total) for six weeks. Whilst the apricots were destoned by hand, the plums were left whole to breakdown slowly during refermentation. The result is a complex sweet/sour/savoury blend with notes of apricot, oaky funk, tart plums, dates and toffee apples.

(Draft at Muted Horn, Berlin, 17 July 2025) Dark red colour with brief, beige head. Fruity, sourish nose with notes of caramel, cherries and balsamic vinegar. Fruity, tart taste with vinegar, oak wood, sour cherries, raspberries and caramel. Low bitterness. More than medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tart, woody and tasty. Very nice.

On tap at BPBW 2025. Unclear brownish coloured, minimal off-white head, fruity and light caramel in the nose. Caramel, light brown sugar, touch of plums and apricots with tart finish.

Tap at BPBW 2025, congrats Alyona for 10k! Anyway. Brownish body, off-white head. Chocolate, caramel, grape notes, bit acetic, definitely got those Flanders vibes. Lean, light taste, acetic Flandersish notes, elevated acidity, chocolate malty touches. Nice!
