330ml bottle. Drank from bottle. Biscuit, caramel, little grapefruit, some tropical stuff, quite high bitterness. Fine.

330ml bottle into schooner glass. Old fashioned ’beery’ aroma, cardboard and Weetbix. Dark golden beer with thin white sudsy head, medium carbonation. Tastes of tin, breakfast cereal and grain. It just tastes like a beer from yesteryear but it is easy drinking.

Bottle from Messrs Barley Malt & Hops, Kuala Lumpur. Poured hazy medium amber with a thin broken white head. The aroma is citrus, malt, light hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a woody resin hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. An easy drinking IPA that won’t set the world alight.

Only reason for buying NZ beer was I got 2 6 packs for $10 each. This one actually not bad, especially for the price. The Monteith is another story...

(Bottle) Clear coppery golden with small short-lived white head. Aroma is a rather complex mix of hops, initially mainly grassy, seaweed notes, but with some sweeter fruitier notes developing. Light bodied with good carbonation. Taste is dry; even when some malty notes appear mid-palate they do so with almost no sweetness. The hops are present in the taste from start to finish, with some evolution through the palate. I found them a little confusing with a mix of earthy, tea, seaweed notes, and providing little in the way of fruity notes. The bitterness in the finish is quite moderate. Overall it is quite drinkable, but not quite balanced.

Bottle. Murky pale amber with a white head. Grassy aroma with some guava and a strange earthy yeast note that is not enticing. Thin and spritzy. Not much body or sweetness, some fruit before that big earthy and tropical thing takes over. Harsh and unwelcoming. Not really sure whether there’s something wrong with this or I just don’t like it.

[backlog] 13-01-15 // bottle at Chur Burger, Sydney. Cloudy orange. Hoppy nose. Light body. Light tropical fruit hops. Good pairing with the burger.
