Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - very dark brown, almost opaque black. Nice crema head. Nose - soy, molasses and a general agricultural feed thing going on. Taste - more of the same. Earthy savoury stuff going on generally. Molasses followsthrough on the finish. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy yet crunchy texture and a long dry crunchy finish. Overall - gnarly but interesting.

Cask @ Victorian Craft Beer Café, Halifax. Very dark red with a thick frothy off-white head. Its roasted malts are most prominent in its nose, but there’s a heavy floralness both here and in its taste.

Cask at the Victoria, Birmingham. Poured a dark brown colour with a reddish hue. The aroma is dry malt, some sweet caramel notes. The flavour is light charcoal bitter with a light watery smoky malt, dry coffee palate. Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation.

(Cask at Craft Beer Co Covent Garden, London, 24 Nov 2015) Brownish black colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, dark chocolate and black rye bread. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, chocolate, black rye bread and a balanced roasty bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Solid and well made porter. Very nice.
