A Cascadian style ale. An IPA brewed using Carafa malt to add another dimension and black colour to the beer. A blend of Herkules, Celeia, Centennial and Cascade hops to give a punchy lemon and tangerine character with a big citrus and pine aroma.

Cask @ Sankeys, Burntwood. Pours hazed dark, good tan collar. Aroma is dark malt, liquoricey sweet. Taste is smooth, liquoricey sweet, dark malt, plummy fruits, coffee hints. Lacks the punchy hoppy IPA elements eluded to in the description, but good for what it actually is.

Tried at the Felix holt, Nuneaton. The pump clip called it a black IPA, and who am I to argue. Black colour with a tan head. Light malty roasted aroma with a touch of choc. Fruity sweetish taste. Medium body.

Cask at the Pump House, Shirley, Solihull. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy off white head. The aroma is light hop, light roast. The flavour is moderate bitter with a rich, light grassy hop, light floral, light coffee malt palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A very hopped down black IPA which was a bit of a disappointment.

Hand-pulled half-pint, shared with Gene in The White Lion, Bridgnorth Shropshire on 5th Oct 2015 as we ’did Shropshire in a day’. Black bodied with a good tan topping that gave some good lacing. Aroma was roasted coffee beans with mild vanilla hints, the taste also leaning towards a coffee flavour, semi-sweet overall, with traces of piny hops in the finish.
