Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy light tan head and plenty of clingy lace. The aroma is big grassy hop. The flavour is moderate to strong bitter with a mellow vinous, yeast, grass nettle hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A real grass bucket black IPA. Plenty of flavour.

Keg at Mother Kelly’s - London. Pours oily black with a creamy beige head. Lots of strong roast in the nose, dark fruits, burnt wood, cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with nice burnt pine, baking cocoa, dark fruits, orange rind. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Dry and chalky cocoa finish, good roast, dry burnt pine. Solid.

Keg at spitfire. Pours black, nose is roast malts, coffee, chocolate, taste is similar, dry, toffee, grapes, light fruitiness.

On tap at Pomeroy’s, Christchurch. I enjoy this beer more than the original PKB, but I can’t really put my finger on why this is the case.
