Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 17/03/2026.
Chestnut brown topped with a fast escaping beige head.
Nose is fruit cake mix, madeira wine, toffee, figs, dates.
Taste comprises liquid fruit cake, raisins, caramel, booze, melted sugar, mellow barrel tones.
Full bodied, light spritzy carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced boost.
Tidy sipper.

Can. Pretty much a clear amber beer, decent bubbly pale head. Light palate, mildly dry, good fine minerally carbonation. A quad in a Madeira barrel could be a sweet mess. Not so here. A light bodied malt base provides a good caramel and mildly toffee vibe, not that sweet. The quad brings the expected ripe fruits with less esters that you might expect. Madeira barrel adding a very mild oak induced vanilla and light but savoury ripe wine soaked ripe fruits. Light tangy and, fairly intense ripe fruity finish, that also brings a savoury wood that is a good balance to the sweeteners of the other elements of this brew. Everything just feels right and well in sympatico. Very nice quad.

330ml can, #890, vintage 2024. Bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Shared with Finn. A steady off-white head over a brown-dark reddish body, near-clear, fair lacing. Attractive on the nose with ripe fruits and a scent of madeira. Solid taste character of vanilla oak, ripe fruits, caramel, and a madeira twist. Mid-dry ripe fruity finish with vanilla moments towards a lingering finish. Well bodied. Slow sipper qualities. (Tromsø, 07.06.2025).
