Delta (Hopsteiner 04188) is an aroma variety that was developed by the Hopsteiner Breeding Program and released in 2009. It is a cross between Fuggle and a male variety derived from Cascade. It shows good tolerance to downy mildew. Delta has a mild and pleasant aroma that is slightly spicy with a hint of citrus.

Fresh on at The Flying Horse Hotel in Rochdale, and nice and crisp in its initial pour. Hoppy in the main, perhaps hints of fruit but flavoursome regardless.

Cask at the Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a clear straw colour with a bubbly white head. The aroma is light skunky malt, light hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a smooth malt, light citrus hop bitter palate. Light bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask, gravity at Dudley Winter Ales Festival Sat 26th November 2011 with Bob Pours gold and with a wonderful clarity and with a white head. despite suggesting that three days in the beers at this festival are not in the best of condition now, this one certainly bucks the trend. However flavour wise it didn’t really impress, not the best from Pictish though I think this is more likely the hop, I get a touch of creamy light vanilla fudge and some late dryness, but not a lot else, to be fair on day one the aroma and flavours may have been better.
