[October 2022] Near black with a bubbly/frothy white head and a nice chocolate and roasted malt aroma. More roasted malt in the flavour but with a mild, citrusy bitterness to it

1/3 pint, festival beer, cask at Joseph Else (JDW). Shared with Finn. Lacing rings down the glass, near black body, covering beige head. Promising aromas; roasted chocolate malts and berry skins. Fine blended taste of dark berries, ripe citrus, and chocolate malts, lightly spiced. Ends with smoothly roasted malt and berries. Nice. (Nottingham 12.10.2022).

Cask at Picture House, Stafford. My records say I drunk this back in 2015, but I certainly can’t remember that. Pours almost black with a medium sized foamy cream head and good lacing. Slow to settle. The aroma has berries and some hints of coffee. In the mouth it is smooth, sweet and sugary. Berry fruits are the main flavour with some underlying malts, plus odd hints of lime and kiwi. Finish is sweet. This is nice. Also interesting and difficult to categorise.. Said to be a Black IPA, but doesn’t have any sort of hoppiness that you might expect.

Cask at the Stansted Departures Spoons. Pretty close to black color, light tan head that settles quickly. Dark roast coffee aroma. Taste is also roasty, lightly burnt coffee, dry finish. Decebt

Delt med Rune. Ultradyprød/svart. Filmskum med litt farge. Litt lacing. Nøttearoma. Smaken røstet malt, mere nøtter & sirup. Interessant. Så vidt litt bitterhet i avslutninga.

Cask @ Shrewsbury Beer Festival, Sep 15. Pours hazy brown with bubbly head. Aroma is zesty citrus. Taste is citrus, lime, mild malts. Perfectly fine.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol, March 2015. Dark brown in colour, with a decent, beige, head. Sweetish blackberries, orange peel, a hint of spice, fruit cake malts before a dryish finish. Pleasant.

Cask @ Willow Walk (JDW), Victoria SW1. Pours a dark amber ruby color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel hoppy citrus aroma. Fruity malty citrus hoppy caramel flavor. Has a fruity malty citrus hoppy caramel finish.

Cask at the Pump House, Shirley. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin broken off white head. The aroma is light roasted malt. The flavour is moderate bitter with a big chewy roasted malt, liquorice, coffee, dark chocolate, light grassy hop palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
