Black in colour, this is an Irish style stout with a moderate balanced bitterness and lovely roasted flavours of chocolate and coffee mocha.

From rediscovered notes. Cask at the Hare and Billet, Blackheath (2016?). Dark brown pour with a beige head. Raisin and sweet malt aroma. Flavours of dark fruit and raisin. Does the job.

on tap at Beer Cellar Exeter. Almost black, with a beige head. Rather flat carbonation from the start, light and mild, some dark flavours and low in sweetness. Not my favourite.

Cask at the Victoria, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy white head. The aroma is roasted malt. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet, with a smooth creamy light caramel, chocolate, coffee, roasted malt bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation. Gorgeous. This is how a stout should be.

Keg at the rake during the Firebrand tap takeover. Mahogany brown with dark red hues and a lasting cream coloured head. Aroma is berry fruit, stewed fruits, hint of dark choc, nutty roast and slight mineral. Flavour is tart berry fruits, dry roasted grains, cranberry and light ash in the finish. Palate is medium light with a dry finish . carbonic acid presents at the end. Very light for a stout but drinkable enough.
