Foeder-aged American wild ale with boysenberry

The latest fruit treatment in our Frucht series bursts forward with clusters of juicy boysenberries. This American Wild ale earns its notes of funkiness and natural wood character from resting in oak foeders. A balance of berry tartness and subtle floral-like sweetness round out this prost-worthy beer.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma is very berry forward with deep, rich berry notes. Light tannins with hints of wheat, lemon and yogurt. Pours a deep, reddish purple with a medium large to large, frothy, purplish pink head that recedes fairly quickly and disappears. No lacing or legs. Flavor is moderately acidic and slightly lactic and sharp. Fairly strong berry notes with some lighter tannins and skin notes. Faint herbal funk and citrus. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer but the acidity is a bit much for me. Nice berry notes and hints of the base beer.
