Can at home, thanks to Sharon picking up from HB, 23/02/2026.
Black topped with a lasting khaki head.
Nose is mellow roast, cocoa powder, hint of liquorice, charr, dark malts.
Taste comprises roast malts, charr, ashen nip, burnt toffee, cocoa powder, dried fruit rinds, brown bread.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close.
Solid stout for the price point.

Creamy tan head on a still black coloured body.
Malt & metallic aroma.
Medium to full bodied, creamy with lightly carbonated clean back.
Malt, soy, treacle, burnt & meaty tastes with a tangy finish.
Nice stuff from Home & Bargains

Can from Home Bargains. Black body with a tan head that holds well. No visible carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Flavour of prune, dark chocolate and Marmite. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel. Soft fizz. This is really good and outstanding value. I’d love to see more strong dark beers from Love Lane.

Can from my Home Bargains haul. Glossy and dark. Thick foamy beige head with healthy lacing. The aroma is quite bitter- raw cacao and coffee with peripheral berries. The flavour then differs to some extent - an immediate tangy berry streak alongside espresso bitterness with added liqourice and spice. Underlying burnt caramel. The bitterness then continues to gain prominence with added herbal hoppy elements. Medium bodied. Slick to oily. Sticky. Soft-average carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Another decent bargain beer.

Brown, opaque with a thin, light brown head. Aroma of chocolate malt, roasted notes, and a hint of cocoa. Velvety mouthfeel with a hint of dark chocolate and a strong malt flavour with a roasted bitterness. Then a dry finish with a hint of powdered cocoa. The alcohol is well hidden. Surprisingly good.

[44cl can from Home Bargains.] A glossy peaty brown pour with a thin pale tan head; chocolate malt aroma; lactic mouth feel with some chocolate and a strong malty taste with bitterness from the roast; then a dry finish with a touch of alcohol in the throat and stomach
. A solid Extra Stout.
