A golden haze for a summer’s daze. Elder Betty is a weiss-style ale with a bready malt flavor balanced by a touch of hops and complimented by the tart berry flavors of elderberry.

Pours hazy gold into a Sam glass. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Sweet summer fruit ant yeast aromas. Thin and mildly tart with hay, strawberry and blueberry front to back. Lasting mild bitter earth finish.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a hazy orange amber color. A ton of bubbles lead to a small foamy white head. Pleasant fragrant fruity malt aroma. Honeysuckle, berries and mango come to mind. Light refreshing tangy wheat malt flavor. Reminds me of a shandy, only less sweet. Some hop bitterness in finish, clean and crisp. A very drinkable summer brew. The elderberry makes it unique.

Super hazy orange coloured body with a very thin off-white head. Aroma of flowers, wheat, sugars, malt and more floral notes - lavender, chamomile and a bit of grass. Light-bodied; Strong wheat and yeast flavour at first with a good showing of flowers and sugars with a good herbal note and a little bit of a bitter finish. Aftertaste is nice with a good amount of sweetness, some herbs, finished with a pleasant fresh flavour. Overall, a decent beer - perhaps too much floral notes, but well-rounded and good for the warm season. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 23-May-2012 for US$1.79 sampled at home in Upstate New York on 25-May-2012.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a murky orange-amber color with a medium sized foamy white head that left no lacing. The aroma was bready and malty with vague sweet berries. The flavor was tangy bread and honey with light notes of pepper and vague berries. Medium length berry finish. Medium body. Ok.

Bottle. Berry and wheat malt aroma. Hazy golden yellow color with large white head. Sweet elderberry and light wheat malt flavor. A light fruity beer - not a bad summer drinker but not much else.

Bottle. This beer has the color of dark straw with quite a bit of cloudiness to it. Light goes through, but I can’t see through it. Head is about a finger at first, but dies pretty quickly to an eighth inch of dense white foam. Aromas are very weak at first, maybe just a little bit of a bready scent, but a second or so after inhaling there is a light berry flavor... I would have guessed blueberry had it not been for the label. Flavor is OK, but at times the elderberry presence comes across as artificial and almost cloying. It certainly covers up any of the malt or hop characteristics of the beer. This is good enough, but a little odd and I’m not sure whether I like it or not.
