Handpull cask at Wygston's House, Leicester. Light to kid-gold, almost clear with a decent-sized white head. Toasty aroma, some light floral notes, hay. Sweet taste to the fore but there's a sharp medicinal bitterness in the finish which lasts and lasts. Nice. Its a pretty decent beer.

Cask at the Anchor, Digbeth, Birmingham. Poured a hazy light amber with a frothy white head and lots of lace. The aroma is of malt with a hint of caramel. The flavour is medium bitter with some liqourice, resin and a little spice on the smooth palate. I’ve tasted better ales. The bitterness in the finish wasn’t so pleasant.
