Boxing Day beer in Barnoldswick, much appreciated after a tough terrain day of hiking around Malham Cove. As the beer is session strength, the cocoa, which has a grittiness, never transfers fully into chocolate, is gentle in both aroma and taste, but pleasant.

Cask at Station East, Gateshead, 14/05/2025.
Extremely dark mahogany brown to light black topped with a beige cap that thins to edgework.
Nose is mellow roast, cocoa powder, toffee.
Taste comprises dark malts, toasted brown sugars, chocolate, charr.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close.
Decent enough cask stout.
