2 bottles from the brewery's mail order service. One pours deep brown with a small beige head.the other no head whatsoever. The aroma is toasty, earthy, wood, coffee beans, cacao, malt loaf and ryvita. The taste is dry, crisp, sourness upfront which dissipates (interestingly the flat one doesn't have this sour note), washed coffee, cola, malt loaf, brown bread, wood, resin and some umami. Light body and soft carbonation. A worryingly level of variable in the 2 bottles. I mean neither are particularly offensive, just not well crafted.

I tried this beer towards the end of the CAMRA Mild Magic challenge and I suspect it was a bit past its best. Although it looked and smelled OK it tasted a bit vinegary like a Belgian Lambic. Hence the low score, not to my taste.
