Cask at CPBF 2014. It pours deep brown with pretty much no head. The nose is earth, toast, plum pudding, spice, cherry cola, caramel, jam and dried fruits. The taste is toasty, tangy fruits, berry, plum skin, date, earth, toasty and raisin with a dryish finish. Touch if tang, suggests early infection. Medium body and soft carbonation. So-so.

Cask at The Fountain, Walsall. Poured a lively dark brown colour with a frothy tan head. The aroma is malty with a little fruit. The flavour is medium bitter, with roasted malt, some citrus and smooth creamy caramel on the palate. This isn’t like any other porter I’ve tasted. There is much less bitterness and its way more thick and creamy. I’ll go as far as saying this is perhaps the best "porter" I’ve ever tasted! --- Beer merged from original tick of D&B Porter on 11 May 2014 at 11:30 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7. Original review text: Cask at The Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark brown with a reddish hue and a frothy off-white head. The aroma is light fruit hop. The flavour is light bitter with a roasted malt light bitter "dandelion and burdock" fruit palate. Light bodied with soft carbonation. A pleasant ale and very drinkable but I’m not sure that I’m into fruity porters tbh. Those people that are will rate it higher than I did. Cask in 2014 so not exactly "retired".

Cask at the Courthouse, Dudley. Pours dark brown with a deep ruby hue and a small head. Aroma was bitter coffee. Had a coffee start and a milk chocolate finish.

Cask gravity at Reading BF 09. Very very dark brown. Quite lasting beige head. Vinous dark fruity aroma. A little rubbery maybe. Good blackberry blackcurrant fruit throughout. A bit of tar, but I like the cab sauv qualities.
