On cask at The Wellington, pours black with a medium light brown head. Aroma brings out rich roasted malt and a little dark cocoa. Flavour is quite bitter, with lots of roast, bitter dark cocoa. Very bitter, metallic, and alcoholic. Okay.

Cask at Cornubia, Bristol, 02/02/19. Clip states 7.3%. Black with a solid khaki head. Nose is roast malts, spice, dark chocolate, charr. Taste comprises fruit cake, liquorice, meaty, cocoa sprinkle, charr, dark malts, black peppery spice. Full bodied, soft ton oily feel, light kiss of alcohol in the close. Decent cask impy.

Black color with a big fine creamy beige head. Nice lacing down the glass. Powerful nice aroma. Chocolate, coffee, mild fruity and mild roasted. Medium to full body and a soft fine carbonation. Powerful little devil and quite well masked alcohol. Chocolate, some dried fruits, coffee and mild roasted. Nice evening sipper.

Poured a dark mahogany with a bubbly tan head and no lace. The aroma is big dry peat and roasted malt. The flavour is strong bitter, liqourice and dark chocolate. A really chewy and satisfying beer. The alcohol is starting to dominate a little but its not at the point where I’m concerned. Great to taste, but due to the high alcohol content, I won’t be having a session on this!

Cask gravity at White Cliffs BF 2010. Black, thin tan head. Oily in the swirl. Good coffee, molasses on aroma. Intense. That is so good, one of the best British imperial stouts I’ve had. So much tar, but in a good way. Liquorice and molasses and lots of balanced espresso coffee. One of the best impy stouts I’ve had full stop.

Cask at The Briar Rose?, JDW, Temple Hill, Birmingham 01-12-07 Poured black with merest of heads. Intensely bitter and roasted coffee are very much the hallmarks of this beer but it was nice all the same, also quite dry and unlike others I thought that the alcohol wasn’t too bad.
