500ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Markets itself as ’counter culture’, and seems to suggest that killing people is a reasonable thing to do. The only ’culture’ this beer is ’counter’ to is that of producing tasty, hop-forward beers that most breweries seem to do these days. This tastes like watered-down Old Speckled Hen. Metallic and sugary. Not very good.

JDW Moon Under Water, Manchester 23 Jan 13. Gyldenbrun. Lavt skum. Teppelacing. God fruktaroma. Fersken. Veldig myk munnfølelse. Smaken er søt frukt. Bringebær. Blir litt syrlig etter hvert.

Half pint, cask at JDWs Moon Under Water, shared with Finn. Lasting white layer to a near-clear, amber coloured body. Floral hops and earthy malts to the nose. Taste of juicy malts added by hints of caramel. Rounded bittersweet ending. Classical Brit bitter (Manchester, 23.01.2013).

Clear 500ml bottle: best before Apr 2013, poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard on 14th Aug 2012. Slight haze to the amber body: off-white head of tight bubbles on top, sadly the head died a bit swiftly for my liking. No great smells (like all Wickwar brews?), some hints of hoppy citrus and biscuity malts but only weak. Grapefruit and biscuit malts in the taste, nothing overpowering, just background flavours to find. Wickwar do this easy drinking, pleasing brews around 4% ABV very well (BOB being another good example). Nothing to upset your taste buds but with a little something to interest your palate.
