This India Pale Ale (IPA) is a dynamite representation of the style. It is full of malts to support the intense hoppiness, but still carries a medium body. As much as we avoid the use of the word smooth, since it can mean different things to different people…this double IPA defines the word.

It is fair to say that hops are the star of this beer, however. Full of Cascade, Citra, Centennial, and Motueka hops, the result is a bright and zesty bouquet full of citrus and floral notes. On the palate, though, the hops shine, with a clean and balanced combination of flavour and bitterness that builds as the drink goes on.

Danger Pay is the result of varied iterations of Double IPA’s that Yukon Brewing has done over the years, bringing together that experience into a big, bold, and beautiful IPA.

473mL can. Pours clear light gold with a white head. Nose is a bit muted with notes of pine and overripe tropical fruit that kind of cancel each other out. Flavuor has a soft stonefruit base, overripe, some bright pine, coming across a bit stale. Meh, the hops are not doing it for me.

Slight haze, pale amber. Thick head. Aroma is piney with blackberry and lychee, a nice and unusual combination. On the palate, it’s similar but with a chewy bitterness, thick malt and lots of alcohol, all of which seem to inhibit tha hop note.

473mL can, pours a hazy dull golden with a large, fluffy white head. Aroma doesn’t really have a lot of character—some citrus zest, bready malt, some earthiness. Flavour is fairly juicy, with juicy citrusy hops and lightly sweet bready malt to back. Not very coherent, with neither a good hop expression, nor malt support. Nothing offensive but there’s not much to enjoy here.

At the January 2026 DC Brewver gathering. 16oz can. Poured a mostly clear, slightly hazy golden color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was big pine, like a ton of pine needles and sap, with some light fruity notes. Floral, flowers, and pine, but not overly resinous. Light lemon and bitter finish.

473ml can. Pours a slightly hazy orange gold with a medium, foamy, long lasting, white head that leaves sticky curtains of lace. Mild aroma of bready pale malt, orange, mango and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of grainy pale malt, grapefruit, mango, lychee, cantaloupe and light piney hops in a dry, bitter finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Well balanced and abv is well hidden.
