1886 is our homage to the classic British Mild, a bygone style that has seen a resurgence in 2025. Our brewers have delved into history, and have taken inspiration from Victorian recipes, with the first recorded brew of a Dark Mild having been in 1886. This 3.4% Dark Mild has malt-forward flavor profile with notes of caramel, toffee, chocolate and coffee.

Back in 1886 Grover Cleveland became the only US President to get married in the White House. Fast forward to US Independence Day today, this reimagining of an 1886 dark mild is not too dark, but a healthy chestnut colour with a creamy head. Pretty traditional sweet mild taste though.

[Cask at the Willow Walk (JDW), Victoria.] A very dark chestnut pour with a tight cream head; malty aroma; quite thin in the mouth with an earthy malt taste; and a sweet nutty finish. A nice old-fashioned mild.
