This progressive variation of Fort Point Pale Ale spotlights Enigma; a dynamic hop recently developed and cultivated in Australia. Engaging aromas of melon and stone fruit converge on the nose with an intriguing herbal essence in the backdrop. Ripe cantaloupe advances to the palate giving way to complementing flavors of light tropical fruit, blood orange, and a hint of spice. Enigma Dry Hopped Fort Point is medium in body with the distinctively mellow bitterness, gentle mouthfeel, and dry finish of our signature pale ale.

Can drunk 5/26/17 and on tap at Trillium Garden, 6/1/17.
Thoroughly hazy, not quite soupy, copper-tinted-golden body shows a fluffy, large, white head that is fairly well-retained.
Lemon and juicy white grapefruit give way to light cherry and bits of grass and earth. Motueka in all of its glory is no Nelson or Galaxy, in my book, as I don’t love the more muted, almost earthy, rather grassy character it provides, though it certainly imparts interesting cherry, dry citrus and moderately juicy tropical fruits. But it’s still quite glorious when done well, as it is here, with the typical Fort Point backing of biscuit and cracker with moderate esters and a hint of pine and booze lingering.
Juicy, though with quite a dry edge to it, the pineapple and leafy, grassy character mixing with moderate bitterness and lemon-grapefruit-like citrus to really dry out the finish. Still, the soft, supple malts and wheat provide ample balance while warming bestows a good juiciness throughout. Tight carbonation and a soft texture with a bit of alcohol/ester house character on the finish.
Every batch varies quite a bit and beyond that, the age of your sample makes a big difference, so it’s very hard to rank them, but after this one, I think my preference is something like (descending order): Galaxy-Enigma-Citra (regular)-DDH-Motueka-Mosaic-Nelson

32 oz. Growler filled at Canton, MA location 3 hours ago. Hazy grapefruit juice appearance. Aroma is earthy, notes of pineapple, and maybe light lime.

The flavor shows mild pineapple, tropical fruits as it warms and very dry pale maltiness. The mouthfeel is soft (as I expected from this brewery) Shows me a oily mouthfeel and no hop acid or beta acid. Bitterness is almost nothing. Ends very clean. This brew has made me a fan of Motueka hop variety. This is tasty and rather different. Awesome!

Pours hazy dark yellow into a tulip. White head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Mango, peach and grass aromas. Medium bodied with pineapple and cantaloupe upfront turning to dry pith in the lasting finish.
