Small tan rim, uniform black beer. Dry nose; tar, chocolate, black cardamom, peated malt. Sweet - Islay (like) malts, chocolate (black and other), praliné-like sweetness dominating the flavour, enhanced by the whisky. Full bodied, viscous to oily. Light astringency. Good balance, but not truly outstanding. Talisker should give more punch. 8/4/7/4/14

Thank you kraddel & tderoeck! Sampled draft @ VCBF 2017. Black, dark mocha only small rim on the sides, looks like the others of the currently released series. Nose is sweet basic molasses Black Albert, some roasted oak, basic sweet srtong whisky, sugar, Black Albert is in its current basic sweet sugar form. Boozy falt sryup, Black Albert syrup, basic sweet, lacks complexity, differs little from others of this series which are non-peated, some soy sauce, flat pancake syrup Black Albert, syrup,... Basic whisky. Feels closer to modern Black Albert than the old series, I assume that age took away the complexities. Nice but not the heights of yore. Pleasant enough stuff even if in need of complexity.
