Curled up with a good book or cutting through whitecaps in your trusty canoe, there is simply nothing better than the companionship of a loyal, loving dog. We know from experience – our dogs come with us wherever we go (including to work at the brewery every day).

Taking this bond to heart, we first brewed our award-winning American Brown Ale, Old Brown Dog. Years later, it remains a stalwart example of the style, beloved across New England for its distinct and refreshing flavor. When the occasion calls for something big on flavor but without the hop punch, Old Brown Dog is an unbeatable choice.

Reliable and robust, playful and adventurous, it’s the beer we reach for no matter where we’re headed – just like our trusty pup.

Bottle. 1 year past BB date, but still good. Good roasted and farty aroma. Clear dark brown colour. Small tan head. The flavour is nicely roasted, dark bread - not rye, cream. Mild sweetness. Well-rounded.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with airy but stable beige head. Clear aroma of malt, caramel and roasted nuts. Bitter, hoppy onset, giving way to sweetish, malty and caramellish flavour and chalky notes. Sweetish and mildly sourish aftertaste. OK.

355 ml bottle bought @ bierkompass.de. Pours amberish brown with a rather small beige head that quickly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell is sweet, tiny sour, malty and tiny fruity with bread, lemon juice, dried tropical fruits, biscuits, moist leaves, red apples and hints of compost, glue and banana. Taste is sweet, very tiny sour, slightly malty and tiny fruity with bread, biscuits, wood, moist leaves, orange zest, caramel, red apples, lemon zest, oatmeal cookies and hints of glue. Mouthfeel is round, tiny clogging, tiny astringent and light to medium bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with bread, wood, pine needles, orange peal, caramel, apple skins and leon peal.

Bottle. Brownish beer with a slight reddish tinge, the head is fairly strong. The aroma is roasted with some degree of chocolatyness, and the flavour is roasted with a small amount of bitterness and large amounts of fruity maltyness. Overall a reasonable beer, nothing spectacular. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
