To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Willy Wonka, we wanted to brew something special & chocolatey. So we set out to emulate one of our favourite & most endearing Chocolate Bars, the Toblerone. This Swiss chocolate Barleywine has flavours of rich milk chocolate with honey & almond nougat coming together beautifully in this celebratory creation.

PLEASE NOTE: This beer was originally called Toblerale, but a cease & desist notice required we made a name change.

Can from Cellar Lanes, Orange, NSW Australia as a gift. Drunk at home in UK while watch the Wolf Alice Glastonbury set. Deep amber colour with a pale head. Aroma and taste are toffee and nugget nutty, some floral honey, decent sweetness. Rich body.

Can. Near clear amber beer, small and short lived pale tan head. Smooth palate, mildly dry, good fine minerally carbonation. The nose is redolent of vanilla and white chocolate. Malts bring mild caramel and toffee that blends well with the dominant vanilla white chocolate vibe. Some honey sweetness and slightly bitter almond coming through on the back end. Impressively light and drinkalble for its hefty abv. Quite the sweet desert Barleywine. And it works well in that context. Lacks the malt depth and sophistication of the best straight barleywines but delivers the candy vibe with aplomb. The drinkability of this 14% beer is probably its biggest strength.

Can shared at CBJ. Big thanks to Dave. Pours clear copper-red with minimal, foamy topping. Medium to big sweet flavour, sugary malts, a bit of toffee, chocolate. Full bodied, lightly oily, with fine carbonation. Hot finish, more toffee, ripening semi-dark fruits, caramel, booze. Tasty.

From a 375ml can on 26/11/2023. Pours a deep dark amber with a small but small but fast disappearing head. Smells sweet and malty - hints of caramel, chocolate, nuts and butterscotch, with some stewed fruit in the mix. Tastes of caramel, chocolate, honey, dark fruit and a touch of vanilla. Very sweet, and not suprisingly, very boozy, with a moderate but sharpish bitterness providing some contrast. Syrupy palate with moderate carbonation. A very good, complex, huge dessert sipper.
