Might Arrow Pale Ale provides lots of pleasurable sniffs from Amarillo and Cascade hops with a fetching honey malt base. This is our brewed tribute to Arrow, Kim’s Aussie/Border Collie mix who ran (literally) New Belgium for 12 years. When she wasn’t patrolling the brewery grounds, she was famous for her office visits: She never met a tummy rub she didn’t like. Atta girl Arrow.

Kroger Bottle. Clear gold with an inch of off-white head. Light citrus, floral aroma, perhaps a hint of honey? Flavor is light citrus (not bitter), hint of tea, honey. Plain, simple, but drinkable.

Bottle from the large bird of prey.Smell is sharper astringent nose. Clear pale with a typical quarter inch white foamy head, does not fade. Big sharp IPA bite on the palate. Goes somewhat rubbery tasting in the middle. Difficult ale, seems to be just another bitter ubiquitous APA wannah bee IPA ale. What else can be said? Its just one rude beer that needs to have some lessons in manners and civility. Big bitter finish, sharp, almost astringent soapy rubber tube. Whew. Will not repeat but it was an experiencing tick. But hey, its for the horse!

2 week old bottle from variety 12 A: Poured a short thick beige-yellow head atop a crystal bubbly body. Fair retention and sheets of lace. S: Sweet notes of honeysuckle and caramel with faint citrus pith. T: Lightly bitter grapefruit and lemon pulp and pith. Well balanced with dry woody rather than sweet caramel malts. M: Medium light and crisp mouthfeel with lively but soft bubble scrub and dry finish. O: My favorite from the mix pack, I could drink this regularly.

It pours a clear gold with a 2 finger head of foam with lots of nice lacing and the head retention is first class as my final sips still have a ton of foam.
The smell is mostly of hops with notes of citrus and pine.
The taste follows the smell with good hoppiness in the form of grapefruit and pine. The malt is there as well with some bread, a little caramel, and some slight nuttiness but NB has really gone with the hops on this one and it works. The finish is definitely on the bitter side and it has a medium mouthfeel to it. Hmmm, I'm not used to drinking a hoppy brew from NB and it kind of threw me off but I think they did a pretty good job though after several sips, I'm bordering on saying, "is that it?" It's tasty enough for the style but it doesn't really stand out in any way. Maybe a second sample will change how I perceive this APA and if it does, I'll be sure to post an edit.

Bottle at friend’s wedding. Aroma was slightly sweet malts, nice toasted notes and plenty of sweet, pine hop character. Flavor was nice, easy to drink hops and malts. Well balanced. Pretty easy to drink. I think this one would be easy for the newcomer but interesting enough to keep the serious beer drinker entertained.

12 ounce bottle into signature globe glass, best before 5/11/2014. Pours fairly crystal clear deep golden amber color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, light caramel, bread, and floral earthiness. Damn nice aromas with plenty of bright hop notes with moderate malt balance; and good strength. Taste of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, light caramel, bread, and floral earthiness. Light floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light caramel, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice flavor complexity of bright citrus hops and moderate malt sweetness; with a nice malt/hop flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent pale ale. All around great complexity and balance of bright citrus hops and moderate malt sweetness; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Lightly earthy orange malt and orange peel/pine aroma. Golden yellow with moderate off-white head. Sweet orange malt and mildly bitter pine/orange peel flavor. Lingering bitterness in the finish. Hops subdued.

Bottle: Pours clear, honey-gold with a tall, frothy, off-white head. Grapefruit/orange (peel) aroma...a hint of vinyl. Malty, soft, light caramel/honey flavor. Mild and easy citrus hops, grain, florals. A really nice, mild APA. Good.
