Sensei is a Triple India Pale Ale & the BIG brother of Master of Karate! Sensei is fermented on our house yeast then hopped with Mosaic, Amarillo, & Galaxy. Notes of citrus, mango, pineapple, & pine with a creamy mouthfeel. Think candied oranges.

Clear copper, bronze, gold, orange and even light amber coloured body, all with a very thick and soapy three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of alcohol, cereal, fresh pineapple, light oranges, resin, syrup and a lot of malts - quite strong in the nose, as expected of course. Full-bodied; Strong alcohol, syrup and resinous notes noticeable up front with a large dose of deep and strong malt right behind that provides a good layer of balance, with a very fresh pineapple, mango and orange bite right behind with some light fresh-cut grass notes and even a touch of tea noticeable at the end, but all flavours are quite strong and long-lasting. Aftertaste shows the pineapple, resin, syrup, lightly bittering hops, but more from the malt and tropically fruits than anything IPA-ish and the alcohol, sweetness and especially astringent flavours dominate, sort of expected at more than 11 per cent alcohol. Overall, a fairly nice beer, considering all the interests at play here - the hops are noticeable, but very light - the sweetness is pungent and leading the flavours, the fruits are nuanced and the alcohol is there (strong), but not overwhelming - nice for a beer greater than 10%. Nice to sample, considering all other Aslin IPAs that I've had are rather low (less than six per cent) alcohol - this was still nice, but not as good as the others. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from the Department of Beer and Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 17-July-2020 for US$4,94 sampled at my house here in Washington on 23-August-2020.

Pint can from Wine Cellar Depere, 8/25/20. Murky orange, floating particles. Large dizzy white head, good retention. Aroma of dank, onion, grapefruit, resin, pale malt. Very green. Taste is resin, pine, green, grapefruit, passionfruit, pale malt. Medium bodied, moderate bitterness, booze present but not bad. Solid.

Draught, half pint. Tasted on the 27/10/2018 at "Biercab", Barcelona (Spain). Cloudy golden to organge colour with a medium and beautiful white head. Aroma is intense citrusy hops, light tropical fruits and tangerine. Taste is again on the citrusy side with an herbal touch. Boozy finish with a long bitter palate. Quite decent. Next one please!

Pours a very hazy, brown mustard-yellow, with smallish, but lasting head. Aroma of rotting tropical fruit, other floral notes, perhaps a touch of citrus, some grass, pine/spruce hops. Flavor is mainly citrus, but with a bitter, boozy finish. Some tropical fruit, some pine/spruce hops. The alcohol burn flavor doesn't help matters.

Can drunk 12/31/17.
Cloudy/soupy, close to chicken soup-looking with a medium-sized white head that recedes steadily to a ring.
Strong mosaic-like character in the nose of pine, light garlic and strong nectarine. Forest-like spiciness with lots of mango and candied citrus. Bare cracker malts behind it stay out of the way, and it doesn't seem too sweet as most TIPAs do.
In the mouth its full of lime, mango, light scallion, pine and strong grapefruit with lightly spicy Galaxy notes and a very soft, malty texture showing strong attenuation and low but engaging carbonation. Unfortunately, the finish is rather raw and sharp with astringent Mosaic-like pine and moderate ester/booze. Still, at least the beer came out dry; that's more than most TIPAs can say.

On tap at Meridian Pint, pours a pulpy sunset orange with some sudsy, white head. Nose a lot of orange, juice, zest and pulp, tangerine, grass, some mango. Flavor has some malt, light vanilla, light oat notes, but really just an orange bomb, orange juice, pulpy Valencia orange, orange zest too. Finishes creamy, bitter.

Draft at SG 2 Year Anniversary Party. Pours a hazy, bright gold with a finger of creamy foam that lingers. Very tropical fruit forward nose: mango, guava, grapefruit, banana...insane nose. Sweet on the palate, with some light booze and light bitterness. Very drinkable for the abv...dangerously so. Creamy and juicy mouthfeel. Smooth finish.
