Once, a traveling group of brewers met a farmer and a cooper arguing. “Bourbon barrel-aged beer is better!” said the cooper. “Cherry-aged beer is better!” said the farmer. “What about both?” said the brewers. And so they tried it, aging a wild golden ale first in bourbon barrels, then on cherries. The result, a lightly tart beer with undertones of raspberry, cherry, strawberry, and vanilla, was so delicious that they raised a toast to friendship, and never argued again.

Special Ingredients/Processes: Aged in Bourbon Barrels with Lactobacillus and Pediococcus, Montmorency Cherries

Thanks Clark. Red colored brew, some soapy. Nose is thick and rich cherries and some chocolate and barrel. Tates of vanilla, cherry, fruitbrolluos, malty, barrel. Very rich flavored and lightly sour.

375mL bottled Nov 24, drunk 8/28/25.
Clear deep cherry. Small, pink head quickly to ring.
Old fashioned? Bourbon is notable with fresh, juicy, lightly waxy fruit. Meat, puree, skin...malty and clean with soft funk but lower acidity.
Soft, juicy, meaty, rich and malty with intense cherry, honey and bourbon. Quite tart. Wow this is so intense for Allagash but lovely.
