Black IPA w/ Mosaic Cryo, Ekuanot, & Columbus Cryo
The fire glowed beneath, steadfast and unyielding. The kettle boiled, it's breath heavy in the still air. Beneath the foam, a great aroma rose, rich and unrelenting. Then at last: hop upon hop, malt upon malt. BLACK. Deep as the abyss, immeasurably smooth. A mountain of Mosaic loomed vast, crowned with a gate of clean, unerring bitterness. A tower of Ekuanot ascended, and the plains of Chinook stretched into shadowed infinity. They saw it: The Doom Sludge All thirst departed.

Tap. pours clear reddish black, medium creamy tan head, good lacing. Aroma is roasty, espresso beans, hints of pine, grapefruit. Flavor is light plus sweet, medium bitter. Medium body. Good.

So.... A CDA walks into a bar and orders a CDA... Um. Pint can pours with a neat dark mahogany colored body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma comes out of the bar firing on all cylinders as I get moderately roasted malts ratcheting right up to highly roasted to burnt malts as well as murmurs of the vague sort of herbal, woody, spicy and fruity hoppiness (gotta dig deep for that one). The taste is largely roasted malt forward with a sliver of nuttiness heading quickly into roasted malts, dark roasted malts and some burnt malts. Overall the malts keep the hops at bay for the most part. I get echoes of spicy to piney to woody to vaguely fruity hops here and there. So, this could be a little better balanced with a bigger hop presence but it is a damn tasty beer just like this.
