Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (style 33B: PT aguardente vinica / 20C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L0509 (BBF 2032). AROMA: medium-low background notes of black chocolate and some burnt hints. medium-high vinous and boozy aroma at the front with wood notes. APPEARANCE: dark brown body and opaque with slight ruby highlights. low brown head with lace formation. TASTE: initial medium-high to high boozy, vinous and wood notes that overpowers the stout, relegated to the background with low hints of roasted barley and slight dark chocolate. medium bitterness with an almost dry finish of roasted notes and slight wood. MOUTHFEEL: medium-full to full body with slight velvety texture. warming sensation that evolves to hot. medium-low to low carbonation. OVERALL: a barrel aged imperial stout where the brandy-like notes overpowers the base beer although its there. it turns to be more unbalanced if you keep drinking it.
