Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 20C). Bottle 33cl - Batch L241/03 (BBF SET21). AROMA: medium to medium-high roasted malt aroma with notes of black chocolate and slight roasted bread crust. slight sulfur present that dissipates. esters almost imperceptible with a dried-grape character. APPEARANCE: very dark brown color and opaque. medium light brown head, creamy, with good retention. leg formation. TASTE: initial medium-high roasted malt flavor with notes of black chocolate, slight roasted bread crust. the malt profile evolves to a roasty and strong coffee character. low pine/citrus-like hop presence and slight rose-like alcohol. medium to medium-high bitterness with a dry and roasty (almost burnt) finish. PALATE: medium to medium-high body with medium-low carbonation. OVERALL: altough a bit on the rough-roasty side and not much complex (more esters would be welcome) a not so bad imperial stout.
