Our flagship Real Ale celebrates the British Countryside and the Farmers who manage it. Rich, earthy and malty, with a floral and well balanced bitterness. Brewed using only the very best of British malts and hops. Reward hard work with a pint of Southern Bitter. The only soft thing about this beer is the water profile.

Cask at the Duke of St Albans, Highgate on 7th September 2025 after the lunar eclipse. Deep copper with shallow off-white foam and full lacing. Malty aroma. Nutty maltiness in-mouth and in long finish. Some bitterness of grasses. Medium bodied with an agreeably smooth mouthfeel.

Cask at the Cornfield Garage JDW, Eastbourne. Poured a clean medium to dark amber colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is malt, nutty. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet, with a smooth, light toffee, nutty, light woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
