Sleepy Bear is a complex malty imperial stout utilizing a blend of 13 different malts including barley, rye, oats and wheat malts. We then aged it for 17 months in Heaven Hill and Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels and blended the barrels at the end to achieve a smooth, rich flavor paired with aged bourbon undertones. 16oz can from Tavour. Dark brown pour, ring of beige head. Boozy, sweet aroma, notes of chocolate. Taste is sweet and chocolaty with a roasty backbone, boozy warmth. Malty, coffee, caramel presence too

2024 version sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours black with a large chocolate brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a boozy bourbon with dark grains and a bit of roast supporting. Flavor has bitter dark grains and dark chocolate with a bit of roast and a decent amount of bourbon supporting.

Tiny taster at Prestige, probably more than enough. Big whiskey on the nose. Deep black pour with a thin ring of foam. Taste is sweet and bourbony, like a dessert. Its mouthfeel remains surprisingly light, with little viscous character.
