We are a small family company focused on bee breeding, mead production and sale of honey in small-volume gift packages.
The beginnings of our beekeeping date back to 2007 as a hobby activity. Since 2013, we have been managing more than 120 bee colonies. Most of the bee colonies are located in Chřiby on the Kudlovice mine and part in Babice and its surroundings.
We made our first mead in 2011. For a long time we hesitated whether to embark on something like this. After all, we know how much work it takes for bees to bring honey, even if only for 50 l of mead. We studied a lot of recipes, but in the end we chose our own and started making mead. It was mead cooked, seasoned with spices and hops. And oddly enough, the mead tasted better than the one you bought. This gave us courage and we started to try other species. The main turning point came in 2015, when we first produced mead in the cold way. This method of production entails higher demands and certain risks of failure, but if everything is managed, the resulting mead is worth it. In cold production, we obtain a product of higher value, the maximum of valuable substances that honey contains is preserved in mead.
We are small producers because we process only honey of our own production and we are limited by its quantity. That's why our mead is not sold in every shop. Not every year is the same, rather everyone is different and so honey always has a different taste. Of course, this is also reflected in the taste of meads of individual vintages and batches. It is basically similar to wine, which is produced naturally and so it cannot be standardized. This, however, brings variety and pleasure from new tastes, which will reflect the best that the bees have brought from nature in a given year.
