Walnut and tobacco, charred oak aroma. Black, thin head. Leather, tobacco, molasses, charred oak and walnut. Medium to full body, easy carbonation. A really good stout from a brewery I don’t usually like very much.

Rich deep dark brown coloured body with a very faint and thin off-white head, barely coating the top. Aroma of roasted malt, hazelnuts, peanuts, mushrooms, sewage and a touch of grassy hops - very interesting in the nose. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich malty flavours up front with a good deal of caramelised sugars, some mushrooms and meatier elements with a nice complex hop finish showing some herbal notes but also a touch of a citrus finish. Aftertaste is rich and very malty - more of a baltic porter than anything else, especially at this ABV, but showing some hops, however the malt comes through strongest here. Overall, a nice rich beer with a lot of good tastes and complex malt flavours. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Wegman’s in Alexandria, Virginia on 03-May-2016 for US$1,67 sampled at home in Washington on 07-July-2016.
