Established in 2010
Peace Tree Brewing Company is dedicated to brewing handcrafted, full-flavored beers with a great attention to quality. Our brewery began in 2009 in a former Nash Rambler car dealership on Main Street in Knoxville, Iowa.
Head brewmaster Joe Kesteloot came to us with years of professional and home brewing experience and brought with him a true passion and creativity for developing his own unique recipes.
We held the grand opening for our 20-Bbl brewhouse in March 2010, and within a month, were producing and bottling our brews – hand-delivering them to stores, bars and restaurants around the state.
Brewing great beer is our passion, but we are also passionate about where we have come from and where we are going. The names of our beers often have connections to the places in our past, especially derived from memories and places in our community and our state.

Intensely hoppy with grass, pine, lemony citrus, and earthy tones. Flavorful with earthy, grass, sweet candied malt, rustic notes. Medium bodied. Enjoyable and well made beer. Full on hop flavor assault with middling bitterness.

Black with a creamy beige head. Aroma is pretty standard porter. Flavor is similar with a healthy dose of earth notes. Not a lot in the way of rye spice. Pretty solid porter but I wish the rye was more prominent.

Orange with a white head. Intensely pine and grassy hop resin with a decent amount of candied malt sweetness. The overriding theme of the aroma is fresh. Very intriguing. Full bodied. Flavor has plenty of fresh cut pine and citrus hop notes. Smooth caramel malt sweetness. Sharp bitterness with round malt sweetness in the finish. A very enjoyable IPA. It took me a bit by surprise as it wasn’t just a good, run of the mill IPA, but had a nice and a bit unique profile.

Bottle. A- Light, subtle citrus, slight candy, slightly hoppy, grassy, wheat. A- Orange color, slightly hazy liquid, minimal off white head. T- Bitter, wheat, spices, grassy. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. O- I was hoping for a great beer with all the comments of a Belgian White as that is my favorite style. This didn’t quite do it for me. It was like a subtle bad Belgian white mixed with a mediocre IPA. Didn’t seem very balanced and just lacked so much.

Pours a dark, brown-black, with little by way of head. Kind of thin on the palate, actually, for an imperial stout. Aromas of fruit, coffee, chocolate. Flavors include chocolate, coffee, caramel, some anise, some raisin. Not a bad first try, but needs to go back to the drawing board.

Disappointing IPA. This one had some weird spice flavors (almost like a witbier at times) and a lot of grassiness, but not true to the IPA style at all.
