Bottle from Gulating. Unclear golden body with a medium sized white head. Quite light aroma, but distinct spicy yeast with a herbal touch and hint of pepper. Flavor has a light and soft touch of pale malt, quite sweet, spicy Belgium yeast as very typical for the style, a herbal touch, some kind of light fruit in general and some fruity bitterness. Balanced body and decent aftertaste in the same direction. Nothing complex or outstanding really, but this one really hit the style like almost only Belgium breweries manage to do. This is actually an impressive true to style Belgium Blond, even with lower alcohol. Comparing this with Leffe Blond as one of the best known sample within this style, Munken is lesser sweet and slightly more hopped – both a positive thing by me and still an unmistakable Belgium Blond.

Can. Hazy yellow body with a big, white head. Fresh and juicy aroma with peach, grapefruit and tropical fruit. Flavor is mostly juice like aroma with some zesty bitterness and hint of oranges in finish. Just another NEIPA, but really fresh and easy drinkable. One dimensional and still enjoyable.

Bottle @ the brewery. Clear brown body with a small, lacing beige head. Aroma is pretty much caramel malt with just a faint hint of chocolate and a little touch of something best described as sour hay or grass. Flavor is medium sweet, dark malt, toast, less caramel than expected from aroma and dusty chocolate/cocoa powder. Not much bitterness. Medium body with a slightly dry finish. Drinkable, quite straight forward session brown ale. I normally prefer my brown ale with a little more chocolate and basically closer to a British stout.

Bottle @ the brewery. Unclear pale pink body with a small white head. Quite light aroma with hint of raspberries. Flavor is quite nice, mild berries, tart, light sourness, lemon and just a hint of raspberries. Medium to light bodied and tart finish. Light and very refreshing, not much raspberries flavor but frankly I prefer it like this. Many raspberry flavored beers tend to taste like candy and this one still feels closer to a Berliner Weisse or something in this direction. Not a fantastic beer, but sure something I could have as a refreshment.

Bottle at the brevery. Clear pale golden body with a white head. Strong and very appealing aroma, grapefruit and cat pee (Simcoe style). Flavor is light and easy pale malt with a relatively strong Simcoe and grassy bitterness. Medium body with a bitter and refreshing aftertaste. Pretty straight forward, but very refreshing and a fine version of a hoppy lager.

330 ml bottle, as Sagene Sterk Jul, from Vinmonopolet Sauda. ABV is 6.5%. Dark brown colour, nearly black. Moderate beige head. Aroma of malts, caramel and brown bread, hints of prunes and vomit. The flavour is better than the aroma, but has the same elements, minus the vomit. Low bitterness.

On tap at Skagen Pub. A lightly hazy dark golden colored beer with a dense, finger-thick white head. The aroma has some diacetyl, as well as bread crust, caramel and a touch of prune. It's medium bodied and sweet, not much bitterness or carbonation going on. Diacetyl, bread, toffee and some dark dried fruit in the flavor. Medium length finish. Not much interesting going on here, it's quite bad actually. 241214
