Established in 1988
The Williams Bros. Brewing Co. started life in the humble ‘Glenbrew’ homebrew shop in Glasgow. The first beer brewed was the ‘Fraoch’ Heather Ale at a small 5-barrel brewery in Taynuilt, After the 2nd year of brewing in the Taynuilt brewery and with demand far out stripping supply the brothers decided to expand and also to diversify the range with five Historic Ales. These ales were produced at the new purpose built brewery and premises in Craigmill, Strathaven from 1998-2004.
In 2004 the brothers took over the ‘Forth Brewery’ at Kellibank, Alloa where Maclay’s had been contract brewing and packaging their beers since the sale of their old Alloa brewery. It was at this stage in proceedings that Heather Ale Ltd became Williams Bros. Brewing Co.

Can from Aldi Inverurie. It pours clear pale blonde with a small white head. The aroma is soft, sweet, plenty of stone fruit, peach, mango, apricot, melon, refreshers, perfumed and sherbet. The taste is crisp, dry, crispy, sherbet, refreshers, slightly chalky, apricot, peach, mango and melon with a short, fruity final. Light body and fine carbonation. Easy going fruity number. I was worried it would be too sweet and/or artificial.

Rate 3.9, best before 10/24, drinking it at Haute-Nendaz, on sunday, just before my exam. Interesting and nice porter brewed on the English way, roasty, coffee, some perfumed and light spicy note, a bit fruity, aromatic, regular bitterness.

Can from Aldi in Welwyn. Good pour, but really funky on the nose and the flavour of that horrible yeast. I really don't like it and it went down the drain.
