12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear dark amber color with a medium white head. A big malty sweet pine nose. A big sweet malty barley wine like IIPA, sugary toffee, pine, some citrus, orange peel. Very enjoyable. Big, sweet, smooth.

355ml bottle [Thanx again to David for the generous Penn-import!]. Milky amber colour with average, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Intense, room-filling, piney hoppy aroma, notes of grapefruit and orange, caramel malty background, strawberry overtones. Taste is crisp bitter hoppy, dry, piney, minimally sweet, caramel malty background, increasing hop bitterness, almost completely disguised fruitiness. Classy IPA with bitterness at the upper limit.

Bottle. A clear, pale orange-golden beer with a small, dense, off-white head. The aroma is quite decent, with orange peel, coriander seeds and a little malty touch. It’s very effervescent, medium bodied and dry, with flavors of orange peel, coriander seeds and a decent bitterness. Some doughy malt notes. Long citrusy finish. Overall, quite nice, but the carbonation level is too high. 150621

Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, wheat, yeast, citrus and coriander. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with a long orange, coriander and wheat finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is very fizzy.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 6/19/15

Aroma: It has a nice coffee/mocha aroma, a bit of molasses, earthy notes, and roast
Appearance: Dark brown color with a thin tan-to-light brown colored head and light, drippy lace
Flavor: The taste is pretty similar to the aroma, just slightly more bitter and roasty
Palate: The body is medium-plus, with a decently smooth feel, and a fairly short finish
Overall Impression: Did sort of an impromptu coffee beer tasting today, drinking this after Whole Hog Espresso Stout. After that one, I just wanted to make sure I could still smell a coffee beer. Anyway, this is one was the better of the two. I enjoyed the mocha-ness of the aroma slightly more than I enjoyed the flavor, but it is a solid overall beer all around.

This was poured into a mini snifter.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a thin tan head that dissipated within less than twenty seconds. Speckled lacing clings and falls adequately.
The smell has a wonderful combination of spicy rye to blend into some chocolate and coffee. Light sweetness runs about to entice a light vanilla to even show its face.
The taste was slightly sweet with the roast to also allow a nice little bit of rye spice. There’s a sticky sweet and semi-spicy rye aftertaste to lead into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium to heavy on the body with a nice sipping quality about it. Carbonation seemed good for the style as it seems to have a nice smoothness to it.
Overall, this was a well crafted Imperial Stout and to add the rye whiskey was a nice touch. If I had another, I’d love to age one.

Look, if you like impy IPA try this, you’ll like it - its terribly mouth coating flat and on style. On tap at bocktwon. Slightly cloudy and pale. Yes, beery aroma but comes across a little putrid, in a good way, heheh. Very sharp astringent hops from the start bowls over my poor girlie lager buds. Impy all over the place, not sure about any honey but hey, its in there like prego. Seething mouth coating flat roto tiller. Wew. What else can be said?
