Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a hazy apricot-amber color with a small foamy white head that faded and left no lacing. The aroma was tart and sour with a citric acid presence. The flavor was very tart and sour with citric acid and lemon. Medium length tart and sour citric acid finish. Medium body. Decent.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 5/2014. Pours lightly cloudy ruby red color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toast, biscuit, brown bread, light toffee, light chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, light vanilla, herbal, and toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and spice notes; with good strength. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, brown bread, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, allspice, light chocolate, herbal, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and robustness of dark/bready malt and spice flavors; with a great malt/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy and very smooth mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice spiced brown ale. All around good balance and robustness of dark/bready malt and spice flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Clear dark amber color with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, vanilla and spices. Medium body with flavors of sweet spices, bready malt and slight fruit. The finish is sweet with a short chocolate malt and spice aftertaste. Just average overall.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 12/31/2013. Pours lightly hazy golden amber color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, pineapple, lemon zest, orange zest/rind, pine resin, grass, floral, caramel, toffee, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Ok aromas with very harsh smelling hop presence that is a bit too vegetal; with moderate malt balance and big strength. Taste of big grapefruit, pineapple, pine resin, lemon zest, orange zest/rind, grass, floral, caramel, toffee, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Large amount of pine resin bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange zest/rind, pineapple, pine resin, caramel, toffee, bread, floral, grass, and floral earthiness on the finish for a while. Ok flavor balance and complexity big pine/citrus hop flavors with moderate malt balance; with harsh and vegetal hop flavors and a fair amount of cloying bitterness after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a slick, sticky, and resinous mouthfeel that is ok. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with a moderate warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very mediocre double IPA. Far too much harsh and vegetal character from the hops makes this moderately unpleasant, but it was not undrinkable.

Draft at You Pick Six Tap Room, Erie, PA. English pint shows dark black color with frothy white head, nose is roasted malts with Cascade and Amarillo hop character. The flavor is just like the aromas, chocolate malts, coffee with the citrus and pine hops blanching the malts real nicely. Lingering pine bitterness. Medium body bordering on the full side. I was pleased by how good this stout is, well worth a try on draft.
